What is a Wind Mitigation Inspection?
A wind mitigation is an essential evaluation that assesses a property’s features to determine its ability to withstand high winds and storms. Our certified inspectors examine elements such as roof shape, roof coverings, and openings protection to identify strengths and vulnerabilities. By conducting a wind mitigation evaluation, homeowners can enhance their safety, potentially lower insurance premiums, and ensure their property is better prepared for severe weather conditions. The inspection results are documented on a standardized form (OIR-B1-1802).
What does a Wind Mitigation Inspection Cover?
A wind mitigation inspection covers critical features of a property, including roof design, roof covering materials, impact-resistant windows, and door protection to evaluate their ability to withstand high winds. This assessment helps homeowners identify vulnerabilities and enhance safety while potentially providing credits to help lower rising insurance costs.

How Long are Wind Mitigation Inspections Good For?
Wind mitigation inspections are typically valid for up to five years, providing homeowners with a solid timeframe for insurance benefits and property assessments. However, if significant changes or upgrades are made to the property’s structure or roofing, a new inspection may be necessary to update the report. Regularly reviewing and renewing your wind mitigation insures continued protection and potential savings on homeowners insurance.
Why Should I Consider a Wind Mitigation Inspection?
Obtaining a wind mitigation inspection can lower your homeowners insurance premium by showcasing improvements like roof replacement, window replacement, and upgraded exterior doors that enhance your property’s wind resistance. It also identifies necessary updates, such as garage door replacements and impact protection installations, ensuring your home is well-prepared for severe weather. Ultimately, a wind mitigation provides peace of mind, knowing your property is safeguarded against high winds and potential damage. Insurance companies might also ask for a 4 Point inspection in order to provide coverage.
