An address is a critical piece of information. We use it to confirm our identity and to get our internet shopping orders. But do you ever think about what your home number looks like? The home number is the actual number that is on the outside of a house. With maps on our phones, we usually aren’t that concerned about what our home number looks like.
But our home number serves a critical purpose, something even more important than the delivery person finding our house. Emergency services like the fire, police, and paramedics rely on these numbers to not only be accurate, but to be easily seen while driving down the street.
Make sure the home number on your house is big, usually 5″-6″ is sufficient. Use contrasting colors so it’s easy to spot. If your house is far from the street, add a number closer to street, preferably, at the end of the driveway. Remember to keep your number clean and unobstructed. Plants grow, so before adding or replacing a number, think about if this spot will be visible throughout the year.
